Smart City stuck on land issue
Smart City Kochi, a joint venture between Tecom of
Dubai and the Kerala government, has announced temporary
closure of its office at Kochi with immediate effect.Chief
executive officer of the project Fareed Abdulrahman
on Tuesday said the office fit-out at Josh Towers and
the recruitment of additional human resources were on
hold till the freehold issue is resolved. However, he

Smart City Kochi wants
SEZ status without strings
The Cabinet meeting, slated for December 31, will approve
the draft of the lease agreement of the proposed SmartCity
Kochi, said Fisheries Minister S. Sarma, who is also the
chairman of the company. The Cabinet is also likely to
finalise a date for the registration of the lease agreement,
Mr. Sarma said. “The registration will not go beyond January,”
