IBS opens new campus in Trivandrum

As a major step towards realising its goal of becoming a Rs 1,000-crore company by year 2010, Thiruvananthapuram-based IBS Software Services has kicked off operations at the first phase of its fully-owned campus at Technopark.

The new campus was inaugurated by Kerala chief minister V S Achuthanandan.

IBS has developed the campus under the government's SEZ scheme as an approved co-developer.

The state-of-the-art facility, apart from accommodating developers and engineers, will house the company's ASP data centre from where application services will be provided to its customers worldwide.

Speaking at the inauguration function of the campus on Monday, VK Mathews, chairman and managing director, IBS Group, said the facility was the first of the four blocks in the new IBS campus, spread over 5.26 acres of land within the Technopark.

With a built-up area of approx 4,50,000 square feet, the campus will accommodate over 4,000 professionals. Two multi-storey office blocks, an activity centre, an open-air theatre, a cafeteria and a parking lot are to be completed in the next phase.

The campus is expected to cost Rs 125 crore and will be completely operational by 2009. IBS, a leader among global providers of new-generation IT solutions to travel, transportation and logistics (TTL) industry, currently operates out of 2,00,000-sft office space in three buildings within the Technopark and two buildings within the Kochi Infopark.

It also has two development centres overseas -- in London and Washington DC -- in addition to its global business centres situated at Atlanta , Phoenix, London, Dubai , Hong Kong, Tokyo, Melbourne, Sydney .

According to Mathews, "The also plans to set up other campuses within Kerala in Kochi and Kozhikode. This will be in addition to the development centres being lined up in Bangalore and Chennai. While the Bangalore facility is expected to come up by the end of this month, the Chennai centre will come up by the year-end."
